Evocative physical objects are augmented with embedded radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchips.

For the 2001 Neocon furniture tradeshow in Chicago, we were asked to create an appealing and unique installation to complement one of Herman Miller's new office systems. Working with industrial design firm Core77, we developed a system which uses iconic physical objects to trigger short video clips.

Five playful physical objects are gathered on the desk's integrated bookshelf. Each object has a unique clip associated with it, which plays on a nearby monitor when the object is placed on a specially designed pedestal on the desk surface.
